My Trans is slipping when it shifts into gear (3rd and 4th) at WOT, like the Converter is not locking right away. it's a TCI 3500 SSF thats about a year old, it's only does this at WOT not normal driving, So I thought I would try replacing the filter and refill the trans.
I just Finished Replacing the Trans Filter and fluid. I got about 7 qts out of it and replace it with about 7qts before it poured out the filler hole. so I was not low.
The filter was not dirty and the Magnet had soft metal poweders, nothing sharp or chunks, I cleaned the magnet and replaced the pan, then took it out for a test drive and still the same issue.
I don't know where to turn next. I can't afford a tranny rebuild or a new converter. any ideas.

Call TCI and tell them what you have. Maybe they will help.

They might rebuild it at a reduced amount.

Nope,,
they say it's not the Converter...
If you have converter slippage it will slip at the time not just when you have 3-4 shift. a converter goes bad its bad there is no slips here and not there.
I am going back to the Servos. Maybe with the added stress of the converter it just took out the Servos? or maybe the solenoid pack - 9L2Z-7G391-A (2009 part #) $454.00
(1) Intermediate servo piston (1L2Z-7D021-CA) $16.73
(1) Seal - intermediate servo piston cover W702969-S300 $2.60
(2) Band adjustment locknut (XW4Z-71000-AA) $3.60 ea.

Well I know for now the Tranny is shot..
This Morning the OD Off Light was Blinking then the CEL light up...
I stopped and broke out the handheld to see the code. It was a P0745 Pressure Control Solenoid "A" error.
So I think something is going on I just don't know what...

Damn got your use out of it. I have less than 26,000 (on second transmission 1st one had a funky noise and got covered under warranty) with less than 100 track passes. Good luck to you.

Thanks,
It looks like a Rebuild to a race ready Trans is going to be costly. I am having trouble coming up with the cash to do the rebuild.
I need to get a Hoopty this week since we are now down a car. because of finances and car repairs I may not be ready to race by November. It Looks Like I will be Staff Only.

I feel your pain!.... I just bought this 07 GT and the first thing I got done was to put a transgo reprogram kit installed because I did not love of the shifting....
the dealer told me the slow transition between gears is a charateristic of the 5r55s....I've been driving standards for awhile now and so I bought his lame excuse...
the kit helps alot when I got my foot at around 3/4 in, other than that its not worth the $600 for install.....transgo provided the kit free because it was just out of devolepment stage and they wanted people to field try it...
I'm just getting back into the speed scene after being AOL for around 20yrs. its a very different dynamic today...
thru more investigating I decide to get the CAI/SCT set up a try...my trans is so confused with the combo of shift kit and readjustment shift of points its like riding in a horse and buggie!...it constantly goes in and out of gear holding at a steady speed.... when I gun it it has this double shift feel ......bang into gear then .5 sec lag then bat out of hell....
nobody on the small island I live on has the same set up as I so I can't compare...dealer says ofcoarse to drop it in.....
I just put the tuner in friday and havent talked with the boys at BAMA yet... I've been told to try adjusting this and that but the tuner didnt come with any instructions...
all this to say that being baffled by an AUTO trans is frustrating..
so good luck. I hope you live close to a big city to have more resources than I do..
The car has 20k and I think was well taken care of mechanicly...
the part # of that reprogram kit is 5r55w-hd2...again I'm not satified with it however, thier may be other issues with my trans...

Those TransGo parts for the Ford small truck/car applications are really agressive race level rebuild parts. Some of them by-pass the computer commands also. That is most likely why you are getting strange results.
I would hate to say it, but you should have the TransGo stuff removed. The 5r55s, while instaled in an S197 Mustang, has the ability to shift so hard and so fast that it will chirp gears every shift at 1/4 pedal. It is all in the tuning.

Well I talked to the following rebuilders
Automatic Transmission Factories - 954-916-1155
TCI - 888-776-9824
Larry's Transmissions - 951-734-0523
Level 10 - 973-827-1000
and they all have a 8 - 12 week turn around time. and that puts me in mid october and thats if I pull the tranny this week and ship it. so it is not looking good for me being able to race in November. It's OK I am OK with doing the Track work.
