GT500 gunning for 7’s, S197 world record
The great thing about auto racing is there are always records to break. New technology and constantly refreshed/updated models allow for someone to come out and try to set a record with whatever is available. The guys over at Evolution Performance have fully embraced the S197 Mustang, introduced in 2005, and they were the first guys to take the 2007 GT500 into the 8’s. Now they want to be the first shop to take the S197 platform into the 7’s, a feat yet to be achieved.

Besides, someone has to do it, and Evolution Performance (http://www.evoperform.com/) plans to unveil their twin-turbo Grabber Blue GT500 NMRA Bradenton, FL event on March 5th-8th. The GT500 will use an all aluminum engine, including the block, and the power will be delivered through twin ball bearing turbochargers. Custom parts that are sure to include turbo cams, forged crank and pistons, and reworked heads will likely boost power well over the 1,000 horsepower mark, though dyno numbers have yet to be released.

Mickey Thompson (http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/) tires will go to work on the track while 20 inch rims will see road use. It is hard to imagine managing and maneuvering that much horsepower down the street but I guess that’s what Evolution Performance wants you to be able to do. From the looks of the pictures this is one serious car so you might want to keep an eye out if your in Florida from March 5th to the 8th.
